About
Hi — I'm Declan. I'm finishing a research Master's in Computer Science focused on climate downscaling: using machine learning to take coarse global climate model output and turn it into the kind of fine-grained, locally useful predictions you can actually plan around.
Outside the research I love helping businesses solve problems with data — the messier and more cross-disciplinary the better. I'm especially drawn to healthtech, climate, economics, and anything sitting at the boundary of AI, science, and human behaviour. I also enjoy learning languages, mostly for the same reason: they're a way of seeing how someone else carved up the world.
When I'm not at a screen I'm usually outside with a camera. I write sci-fi short stories, shoot landscape and night-sky photography, and travel as much as work allows.
